Location and weather requests

Weather Goblin asks for location access only while the app is in use. Before either location-based network request, it rounds latitude and longitude to two decimal places. It sends those city-scale, coarse coordinates to Apple's iOS geocoding service for a broad city or region label; Apple's processing is governed by Apple's privacy policy. The app does not send the device's precise coordinates to Apple or Open-Meteo.

The rounded coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo to retrieve current conditions and a short forecast. Open-Meteo states that its free service keeps server logs that may contain IP addresses and geographic coordinates. Open-Meteo says IP addresses are not linked to a user identity, logs are not shared with third parties, and logs are deleted after 90 days. Read the current Open-Meteo terms and privacy information.

Information kept on the device

Forecast timeline entries and copies of Gub artwork needed by the widget are stored in the app's private shared container. Forecast entries are replaced when weather refreshes. Weather Goblin does not sync this information to a developer account or developer-operated server.

Gub's dialogue selection, app interactions, and visual preferences are not sent to an analytics service.

Your choices

• You can grant reduced or approximate location; Weather Goblin does not require precise location.
• You can deny or revoke location access in iOS Settings.
• Without location access, the app shows an intentional location-unavailable state instead of fetching local weather.
• Weather Goblin does not request Always or background location access.

Support messages

If you email support, Shane Walker receives the email address and information you choose to include. That information is used to answer and maintain the support correspondence. Do not include sensitive information that is not needed to explain the problem.

This website

This static site adds no analytics, advertising, tracking scripts, or cookies. Its hosting provider may process ordinary web request information under the provider's own privacy terms.

Children

Weather Goblin is a general-audience weather app. It is not designed or marketed as a children's app and does not include accounts, chat, user-generated content, or social features.

Changes to this policy

This page will be updated if Weather Goblin's data practices change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version.
